Lead Accountant to Intertek – Industry Services

Intertek is looking for a lead accountant in Norway, primarily for our Industry Services Business Line, with some additional duties within the wider finance team beyond this. Being our Lead Accountant
This role supports the local balance sheet accuracy, ensuring adherence to financial standards and compliance to Group policies. The Lead Accountant will ensure the balance sheet is truly and fairly stated in timely manner.

Furthermore, the Lead Accountant will support our Technical Controller Nordics for all statutory requirements of the Norwegian legal entities, including accounting, tax and other legal requirements. This includes liaising with internal and external auditors to complete internal and external audits in order to make sure compliance with statutory needs and Group policies.
You will ensure the health of the balance sheet, facilitating processes such as intercompany transactions and balance sheet dashboard. You will also be responsible to work closely with Group tax and treasury to build and execute cash repatriation plans.

You will also support the Industry Services Norway Operations team to:

  • Ensure financial outputs from the operational system (EVO) are reviewed & accurately reflected in the monthly management accounting system (SUN).
  • Review draft P&L with Operations team & investigate any queries/anomalies.
  • Maintain project-level analysis to assist with review of P&L accuracy.
  • Review direct cost accruals, liaising with AP team, to ensure that costs are correctly accrued.
  • Review accrued revenue to ensure accuracy & supportability.
  • Upload all financial results/forecasts/budget into the group consolidation system (Cognos)
  • Review Working Capital performance (Accrued Income/Accounts Receivable) with the operations team, and assist with action plans, for improvement & track progress.

Consequently, and as part of the journey, you as the Lead Accountant will provide guidance and advice on accounting treatments and standards as well as making sure that the core mandatory controls are compliant with Group policy.

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting
  • Experience in Accounting and tax, ideally from an audit/accounting company
  • Knowledge of statutory, tax and legal requirements in Norway
  • Strong analytical skills, using large data sets, confident using various excel functions (intermediate excel formula/Pivot tables etc.)
  • Attention to detail, with proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Experience working in a multinational environment
  • Fluent in English, both speaking and writing
  • Good communication skills, able to work with operational & finance stakeholders.

Location – Flexible – but occasional travel to Sandefjord Office will be required.
